书目名称 | The Evolution of Galaxies | 副标题 | I-Observational Clue | 编辑 | José M. Vílchez,Grażyna Stasińska,Enrique Pérez | 视频video | | 图书封面 | | 描述 | Galaxies have a history. This has become clear from recent skysurveys, which have shown that distant galaxies, formed early in thelife of the Universe, differ from the nearby ones. .New observational windows at ultraviolet, infrared and millimetricwavelengths (provided by ROSAT, IRAM, IUE, IRAS, ISO) have revealedthat galaxies contain a wealth of components: very hot gas, atomichydrogen, molecules, dust, dark matter. A significant advance isexpected due to new instruments (VLT, FIRST, XMM) which will allow oneto explore the most distant Universe. .Three Euroconferences have been planned to punctuate this new epoch ingalactic research, bringing together specialists in various fields ofAstronomy. . .The first, held in Granada (Spain) inMay 2000, addressed the observational clues. ..The second willtake place in October 2001 in St Denis de la Réunion (France)and will review the basic building blocks and small-scale processes ingalaxy evolution. ..The third will take place in July 2002 in Kiel(Germany) and will be devoted to the overall modelling of galaxyevolution. ..This book contains the proceedings of the first conference.
