Vena Cava Filters: State of the Art,ients could not be anticoagulated, and others will experience anticoagulation failure. The vena cava filtration, at least for these patients, has been described to overcome these limitations. Over the last decades, placing a filter in the inferior vena cava (IVC) has been gaining popularity to prevent acute PE in several indications [3–7].
