Modifying of Titanium VT6 Alloy Surface by Electrical Explosion Alloying,igh-speed hardening of the molten surface layer initiates the formation of micro-cracks which might fragment the surface (Fig. 6.1). Dimensionally, structure elements of the alloyed surface vary in a broad range from hundreds of micrometers (Fig. 6.1a) to tens to hundreds of nanometers (Fig. 6.1c).

That is, a material with a high content of light elements seems to be darker than a material containing atoms of metals—components of the alloy under study—or introduced into it during alloying.
