Characteristic Features of Electronic States in High-Tc Superconducting Oxideshat if holes are doped in an insulating sample, a new narrow energy band grows up inside the charge transfer gap and develops to a metallic band. The formation of the new band is quite suitable for explaining various anomalous properties of the oxides in the normal state.

Core-Level Spectroscopy in High-Tc Superconducting Materialsarge transfer energy from 0 2p to Cu 3d states and on the hybridization strength between these states. The polarization dependence of Cu 2p-XAS and 0 1s-XAS provides us with the most direct information on the site and the symmetry of doped holes. An analysis of X-ray emission spectra is also made using the same model system.

Characteristics of the Charged Hole in the One-Dimensional Mott Insulatorthe formation of the Hubbard gap. The logarithmic anomaly near 4.. for the latter quantity is investigated in the vicinity of the Mott insulator. The compressibility and the specific heat calculated in the whole temperature region are discussed in connection with the characteristics of the charged holes.

Effective Hamiltonian for High-Tc Cu Oxidesr integrals between these two singlet states have been found to be sensitive to the relative magnitudes of the direct and indirect transfer integrals between O-sites. Effective Hamiltonian in the case of electron doping is also derived.

Dispersive Single-Particle Excitations in Strongly Correlated Two-Dimensional Systemse electron.removal spectrum shows almost dispersionless features corresponding to 3d. (Cu) and 2p. (0) final states. The low energy excitations are further analyzed with use of the t-J model which is solved analytically on the 2×2 lattice.
