Evidence for Δ-h Components from Pion Reactionson the properties of low lying nuclear states is the quenching of the Gamow-Teller strength recently observed in (p,n) reactions.. Because of uncertainties in the Gamow-Teller sum rule this quenching does not lead to direct estimates of the Δ-nucleus admixtures.

Renormalization of Axial β and Magnetic γ Transitions with Δℓ=1 and the Related Giant Resonancesgy E. for the vector mode are found to be consistent with each other, while those for the axial vector mode are inconsistent, in a framework of the spin-iso-spin polarization of the nucleon particle-hole type only. A possible effect of the A nucleon-hole polarization on the axial vector mode is deduced.

Models for Pion-Nucleus Reactionsion takes place in the nuclear environment. For pion scattering in the resonance region, the Δ-h formalism has proved to be particularly useful to account for these medium corrections. In the first part of this talk, I shall give a brief summary of the results obtained in applying the Δ-h formalism to elastic pion nucleus scattering.
