Sextus Empiricus,ncient rationalists, who were theory-based, and ancient empiricists, who emphasized the role of experience in inferring from signs both seen and unseen. Peter Abelard,m significant terms. Abelard (re-)introduced the notion of propositional content, which he called the ‘.,’ which is the significant correlate of sentences.
