Solar an stellar coronae,earby stars. It is shown that a basic analogy exists between solar coronal physics and the phenomena observed in the coronae of other late-type stars. Recent X-ray observations of stellar coronae from EXOSAT are used to illustrate the main points.

Stellar activity and rotation,t role, still its correlation with various activity indicators has an essentially qualitative character, because other global stellar parameters undergo concurrent changes, making it difficult to isolate the pure effect of stellar rotation from observations.
