Culture Methods,As previously discussed, soilless culture is the term most frequently used to include all nonconventional soil culture methods, although the term hydroponics is often still found in the literature. Both terms can be used to describe all the general nonsoil growing systems.

Types of Hydroponics and Nomenclature,e culture, nutriculture, etc. The word hydroponics was originally used in the United States as a synonym for soilless culture. Likewise, the German Hydrokultur and the English hydroculture have been used to describe this method of farming (Steiner 1976; Jones 1983; FAO 1990).
