描述This book gives an overview of the state of the art in five different approaches to social science simulation on the individual level. The volume contains microanalytical simulation models designed for policy implementation and evaluation, multilevel simulation methods designed for detecting emergent phenomena, dynamical game theory applications, the use of cellular automata to explain the emergence of structure in social systems, and multi-agent models using the experience from distributed artificial intelligence applied to special phenomena. The book collects the results of an international conference which brought together social scientists and computer scientists both engaged in a wide range of simulation approaches for the first time.

A Comparison of a 4GL and an Object-oriented Approach in Micro Macro Simulationy of Darmstadt. The first version was written in pure pseudocode and then transferred without difficulties into the third generation language FORTRAN. The implementation and the simulation runs took place on different kinds of mainframe computers (Heike .. 1987; Heike and Kaufmann 1987a; Heike .. 19

Evolution in Humans of Macro-level Social Stratification and Languagethat this ancestor was highly social, living in primary (face-to-face) groups sufficiently small in size — say 100 people — so that members knew and responded to one another as individuals, and they communicated through gestures and vocalizations [Mazur 1973]. Interaction within each group was struc

Game Theory, Decision Making in Conflicts and Computer Simulations: a Good-Looking Triadman life. The emerging picture, however, is not good-looking. Decision makers rarely find the ideal rational solution to the simple, elegant but devious tasks presented to us by game theorists. Who to blame? What went wrong?
