Americans’ Well-Being: Differences Among Population Groupsof the relatively well-off, the roles of the housewife and mother, or the restricted lives of senior citizens. Though differences among these groups may sometimes be overdramatized and almost caricatured, they frequently do serve as indicators of social conditions that are shared by large proportions of the people so categorized.
