Affine DynamicsIn this chapter, we obtain the equations of motion that govern the simplest, non-trivial, deformable dynamics of an ellipsoidal body. We will employ volume averaging (also known as the method of moments or the virial method) to this end.

AsteroidsIn this chapter, we apply the framework developed in the previous chapter to look at the equilibrium shapes of rotating rubble ellipsoids. We will apply the results to look at features of several known asteroids that may be granular aggregates.

Formationical approach provides an alternative to more computationally intensive paradigms, e.g., discrete element simulations, with which we compare our predictions. These results have implications on rotation-driven disruption of rubble-piles, as well as, re-aggregation processes.
