Grouping in the Normalized Cut Frameworknt image features — intensity, color, texture, con- tour continuity, motion and stereo disparity are treated in one uniform framework. We suggest directions for intermediate-level grouping on the output of this low-level segmentation.

Constrained Symmetry for Change Detectionng vehicles. Horizontal, bilateral, Euclidean symmetry is used as a generic object model by which segmented curves are grouped, first in a 2-d approximation, and then in 3-d, resulting in a sparse 3-d Euclidean reconstruction of a symmetric object from a single view. The method is applied to sample images of parked aircraft.

A Cooperating Strategy for Objects Recognitione a feedback process. The proposed strategy has shown good performance especially in case of complex scene analysis, and it has been included in the visual system of the DAISY robotics system. Experimental results on real data are also reported.

Grouping Based on Coupled Diffusion Maps, and regular textures. The proposed equations are particularly well suited for parallel implementations. They also show some interesting analogies with basic architectural characteristics of the cortex.

Finding Objects by Grouping Primitivesthed people is difficult, because the vari- ation in colour and texture on the surface of clothing means that it is hard to find regions of clothing in the image. We show that our strategy can be used to find clothing by marking the distinctive shading patterns associated with folds in clothing, and then grouping these patterns.
