Introduction: Resolvability Will Determine the Future of Banking,The future of banking depends on whether or not banks become resolvable, that is, whether they can fail in an orderly manner at no cost to the taxpayer and without significant disruption to financial markets or the economy at large. In other words, can banks become safe to fail?

Conclusion: Is Basel Best?,The crisis has changed banking. Even if the recovery takes hold, the days of “heads the bank wins, tails the public loses” are over. There will be no return to the pre-crisis regime. What will take its place? The Basel regime (less likely to fail, safe to fail) described in this book, or some other?
