Convection Heat Transfer,es (or photons), and a transmitting medium is not required. Thus from a conceptual viewpoint, convection is not a basic mode of heat transfer. Instead, it occurs by a combined effect of conduction (and/or radiation) and the motion of the transmitting medium.

Fire Plumes, Flame Height, and Air Entrainment,flaming interval, and may be said to end prior to flashover. The buoyant gas stream is generally turbulent, except when the fire source is very small. The buoyant flow, including any flames, is referred to as a fire plume.
