描述Thisbook sheds light on how Member States and EU neighbours relate to Russia. It includes their historical, financial and political ties, as well as thepublic perception of the national population vis-à-vis Russia. Eachchapter builds on these factors to elucidate the country’s positiontowards Russia and provides a prediction on the future of these relations. This volume shows the diverse relations that the EU member states andneighbours have with Russia, spanning from tense and confrontational tomore eased and friendly, highlighting the contrasts between the nationalstate and the EU as a whole. The book also presents the reader withconcrete aspects in different policy areas, via recommendations on howsingle countries and the EU should deal with Russia. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24th February2022will change the relationship between the West and Putin’s Russia fordecades to come. No doubt that this blatant violation of International Lawand the incomprehensible human suffering of Ukrainian citizens willmassively change the attitude of the countries analysed in this book.

Greco-Russian Relations: The Two Faces of ‘Janus’x faith. Ireland: Reluctantly Re-thinking Russiaial economic leverage over Ireland. Ireland’s security policy of neutrality—which emerged during the Second World War and led to the rejection of possible NATO membership in 1948–1949—has, at the same time, meant that bilateral relations with Russia/Soviet Union have been free from problems arising from NATO-Soviet and now NATO-Russia tensions.
