Ivo de Boer,Femmie de Vegt,Helma Pluk,Mieke Latijnhouwers entzündete sich nicht an der Frage nach dem literarischästhetischen Wert, sondern je nach Sicht der Beurteiler nach seiner politischen und moralischen, seiner weltanschaulichen und religiösen Bedeutung. Damit war auch die literarische Wirkung seines Werkes beschränkt.
