CORA Rotary Blood Pump: Totally Sealed Bearings using two or three plates optically surface-polished and maintained in tight contact by a spring. A concentric double sealing and an eccentric single sealing were studied on a ground-testing device. The single eccentric sealing was preferred, because it is always “wet” from lubrication by the blood and consumes less power.
