描述.Robotic sailing offers the potential of wind propelled vehicles which are sufficiently autonomous to remain at sea for months at a time. These could replace or augment existing oceanographic sampling systems, be used in border surveillance and security or offer a means of carbon neutral transportation. To achieve this represents a complex, multi-disciplinary challenge to boat designers and naval architects, systems/electrical engineers and computer scientists.  .Since 2004 a series of competitions in the form of the Sailbot, World Robotic Sailing Championship and Microtransat competitions have sparked an explosion in the number of groups working on autonomous sailing robots. Despite this interest the longest distance sailed autonomously remains only a few hundred miles. Many of the challenges in building truly autonomous sailing robots still remain unsolved. .These proceedings present the cutting edge of work in a variety of fields related to robotic sailing. They will be presented during the 5.th. International Robtoic Sailing Conference, which is taking place as part of the 2012 World Robotic Sailing Championships. . .

Optimization-Based Weather Routing for Sailboats An optimization based approach is used with the objective of minimizing the time required to arrive at a destination. Several simulations have been performed using high resolution regional forecasts from HIRLAM and MyOcean models in order to test the validity of this method.

Human-Computer Interface for Doğuş Unmanned Sea Vehicles has a very important role in mission planning. A Study on Potential Energy Savings by the Use of a Balanced Rig on a Robotic Sailing Boat the potential energy savings of a balanced rig compared to the conventional sloop rig, which is currently in use on this boat. Results of a computer simulation show that a balanced rig can save about two-thirds of the power needed for the sail trim.

A Simple Controller for Line Following of Sailboatscomplexity is low enough to be applicable for sailing robots with very limited computation power. The presentation contains all the necessary details to allow a fast and reliable implementation of a sailboat robot controller which follows a line. The paper also presents a simple collision avoidance strategy based on interval analysis.
