The Wonderful Neutrinos,f the very early moments of the universe. They show a novel type of wave-like behaviour, a quantum-mechanical oscillation that changes one type of neutrino to another, which kept scientists puzzled for many decades.

The Second Messenger, ing another type of wave which was predicted by Albert Einstein way back in 1916, so the discovery came almost a century later. This is called the gravitational wave. We have just begun a new era in astronomy, looking at the universe with a new type of wave. This chapter will be on the theory and detection of those waves.

Book 2024sky”, and involve some sort of “rhythm”. Sky is not just the inside of a dome; there are many strata, each with its own beauties and mysteries. As we go up, the atmosphere thins out and ends, and we move into the space, into the realms of planets, asteroids, and comets, and even further, beyond the

Strange Rhythms, Strange Objects, onto a compact object like a white dwarf or a neutron star. Periodic oscillations are found to be associated with sporadic events like Type I X-ray bursts, though their origin is not understood. Fast radio bursts are of varied nature, indicating that origin of different classes may be different.

On Periodic Motion,g simple harmonic motion, wave motion, and orbital motion, with as less mathematics as possible. Most of this is high school stuff and the reader who is already familiar with the concepts may easily skip this.

Flickering Candles: Cepheid Variable Stars,, it was found that the intrinsic luminosity of these stars is related to their periodicity thus enabling us to measure distances to stellar clusters and galaxies with confidence. Shapley used this method to construct the first accurate model of our galaxy and the position of the Sun. It was also un
