Processes for Making Resorcinol,At present, only the benzene sulfonation/fusion and the hydroperoxidation/cleavage of diisopropylbenzene routes are used commercially on a large scale. The remainder of the routes described below are used on a small scale only, if at all.

The Use of Resorcinol in Rubber Compositions,tions is the major commercial application of resorcinol. For this reason, this use is a separate topic here. Other uses of resorcinol resins are discussed in Chapter 5, and the many uses of resorcinol/derivatives as additives for other polymeric compositions and organic materials are presented in Chapter 11.
