Practices “Odious Among the Northern and Western Nations of Europe”: Whiteness and Religious Freedomf the practitioner’s beliefs. Through the examination of cases about religious drug use, animal sacrifice, and religious head-coverings, this chapter explores the relationship between race and the right to practise minority religions in the United States and the subtext about the boundaries of whiteness embedded in these free exercise cases.

Race and Racism in Eastern Europe: Becoming White, Becoming Westernhe privileged whiteness that has been partly lost during the socialist past. Finally, they confirm the need to recognise polyracism, and give a less one-sided account of the process of racial Europeanisation which privileges Western Europe and denies the agency of Eastern European states in this process.
