描述Occasioned by the spirit of celebrating Keats‘s 200th birthday (31 October 1995), Jeffrey C. Robinson‘s Reception and Poetics in Keats offers at once a history and readings of the many praise and commemorative poems to or about Keats (collected in an appendix) from the time of his early death up to the present day and a consequent rethinking of Keats‘s own poems and poetics. Keats emerges as a poet uniquely available and useful to the experimental poets of our own time.

Introduction, tral hypothesis of my book perfectly: the pervasive image of Keats as that poet who died-too-young has for generations guided his readers towards seeing his poems as closed, elegiac monuments; the view of the poet shaped the poetics by which he has been read.

Keats Enshrined in Poems: the Nineteenth-Century and Traditional Poetics,m Clark (. .). Individual poems have also recently appeared — including those by Jorie Graham, Jane Kenyon, Galway Kinnell, Stanley Plumly and Mark Halliday. Surrounding the year of the 200th anniversary of his birth (1795), poets seem to want to give voice to or about Keats; they want him to keep o

Flowers, Keats, and Death,a new one. Behind the new life, of course, is the loss of the old, a sacrifice or exchange woven with the continuity. Proserpine, goddess of flowers, recalls pain as well as new life. And as in Ovid the principle of continuity demands an adjustment downward on the evolutionary scale: person back to
