描述.The volume covers most of the topics addressed and discussed during the Workshop INdAM "Recent advances in kinetic equations and applications", which took place in Rome (Italy), from November 11th to November 15th, 2019. The volume contains results on kinetic equations for reactive and nonreactive mixtures and on collisional and noncollisional Vlasov equations for plasmas. Some contributions are devoted to the study of phase transition phenomena, kinetic problems with nontrivial boundary conditions and hierarchies of models. The book, addressed to researchers interested in the mathematical and numerical study of kinetic equations, provides an overview of recent advances in the field and future research directions..

Thermal Boundaries in Kinetic and Hydrodynamic Limits,We investigate how a thermal boundary, modelled by a Langevin dynamics, affect the macroscopic evolution of the energy at different space-time scales.

The Vlasov Equation with Infinite Mass, the physical space and on the singularity of the interaction. In particular, for . = 3, the more singular the interaction, the faster must be the spatial decay at infinity of the initial distribution. We describe also an application which gives rise to a viscous friction model.

Sharpening of Decay Rates in Fourier Based Hypocoercivity Methods, ities. We explore various estimates for equations involving a Fokker–Planck and a linear relaxation operator. We review existing results in simple cases and focus on the accuracy of the estimates of the rates. The two methods are compared in the case of the Goldstein–Taylor model in one-dimension.

Quantum Drift-Diffusion Equations for a Two-Dimensional Electron Gas with Spin-Orbit Interaction,on. To our knowledge, this is the first example of quantum drift-diffusion equations involving the full spin vector. Indeed, previous models were either quantum bipolar (involving only the spin projection on a given axis) or full spin but semiclassical.
