描述This volume includes a collection of technical papers on an important topic in geotechnical engineering; the behavior and treatment of expansive soils. The research studies include investigations into novel stabilization techniques for expansive soils using different admixtures or mechanical consolidation techniques, as well as new experimental approaches to evaluate the behavior of expansive soils. They also include an evaluation of wetting boundary conditions on the volume change of expansive soils, as well as the role of hydrologic boundary conditions in arid climates. The volume is based on the best contributions to the 2nd GeoMEast International Congress and Exhibition on Sustainable Civil Infrastructures, Egypt 2018 – The official international congress of the Soil-Structure Interaction Group in Egypt (SSIGE).

Generalized Analysis of Under-Reamed Pile Subjected to Anisotropic Swelling Pressure, ases for a given slip element thickness, bulb diameter and swelling pressure (b) The soil heave and pile uplift are immensely affected by the intensity of anisotropic swelling pressure intensity. (c) Provision of slip element below the pile tip reduces the pile upheaval.

Effect of Sulfate Contamination on Compaction and Strength Behavior of Lime Treated Expansive Soil, ated soil will always results in deterioration of the treated soil. The intrusion of sulfate occurs through acid rains, effluent from tannery industries or mine wastes, intrusion of sea water, construction waste, intrusion of leachate from solid waste fills and sulphate rich groundwater. Therefore,

Combined Effects of Bottom Ash and Lime on Behaviour of Expansive Soil, ash was collected from Eraring Power Station in New South Wales, Australia, as a by-product of coal-fired power stations, and soil specimens were used as artificial soil including kaolinite, bentonite and fine sand in a reasonable ratio to stimulate soil samples with characteristics of expansive so

Mechanical and Hydraulic Properties of Bentonite Clay Stabilized with Cement, Lime, and Mixed Lime- been long investigated. Various studies have examined the effects of different types and amounts of stabilizers on different soils. In most of these studies, fine-grained soils have been tested at optimal humidity to study the effect of the stabilizers, with the impact of stabilizers at liquid limi
