Major Gene Detection and Segregation Analysis,o involves detection of two loci with epistatic effects. The chapter ends with segregation analyses for qualitative traits and quantitative traits. The difference between major gene detection and segregation analysis is that the genotypes are measurable in the former while they are not observable in the latter.

Estimation of Heritability,(1) regression of offspring on parent phenotypic values, (2) analysis of variances for sibling data, and (3) mixed model analysis from pedigree data. The REG, GLM, VARCOMP, and MIXED procedures in SAS are used to estimate variance components. Finally, the standard error of an estimated heritability is presented using the approximated delta method.
