Copper Catalyzed Oxidative Carbonylation of Methanol to Dimethyl Carbonatefound to proceed via sintering and the replacement of chloride ligands by hydroxide. Regeneration may be accomplished by treatment with hydrochloric acid which restores the chloride content of the copper.
