Can We Leverage R&D and Engineering through Outsourcing? and usually slow-moving laboratories. This is particularly true about product innovation, therefore applied research and development. Basic research is a different proposition, which does not mean that big numbers can produce better results than a small highly learned, motivated and well-equipped group of people.
