On the Origin of Stable Remanence in Pseudo-Single Domain Grains, alloys and yttrium iron garnet crystals. These studies support the basic contention that the role of surface anistropy is indeed the predominant one in explaining the high coercivity of PSD grains. Reduction of Hematite to Magnetite under Natural and Laboratory Conditions,ay occur in air. Reduction produces undesirable effects during thermal demagnetization procedures and paleointensity determinations on samples containing hematite, but these effects can be eliminated or controlled if certain precautions are followed.

The Demagnetization Field of Multidomain Grains,h increase in remanence in multidomain grains. Although . can be approximated by a constant in the limit of small displacements of domain walls from their demagnetized sites, this constant critically depends on the domain geometry.
