描述Being in the business of generation and dissemination of knowledge, R&D organizations have to attain a balance between revenue generation and creation of knowledge advantage for clients. Based on a global study, this book argues that R&D organizations must not become market driven but must internalise the market in the organisational processes through developing partnerships with clients. The book uses the benchmarking technique to evaluate organisational best practices for enhancing the effectiveness of R&D organisations.

Introduction,in the market dynamics to influence both public funding as well as the activities of RTOs. The government as a client would rely more on those RTOs that can deliver efficiently at the least cost and time. As a funder it would ask RTOs to be more market savvy and competitive with the rest of the world.

The WAITRO Study on R&D Organizations,d technological capabilities. These organizations are either directly or indirectly funded by national governments. Most of these organizations are facing a tough time in terms of availability of funds and in justifying their effectiveness. Is it possible to revitalize these organizations through organizational restructuring?

Measuring the Effectiveness of RTOs,ator and how can we arrive at the appropriate indicator? In the Annexure, along with the sub-process-wise practices, we have also listed the performance indicators used by the WAITRO study and also the best practices arrived at by the study. In this chapter, we shall discuss the issues related to these performance indicators and best practices.
