Search based planning for decision support,ecial aim: finding the optimal value of a given object function. Search procedures to solve search problems are treated at last. We describe a General Search Procedure consisting of a constructive and an iterative part and enlighten how approximative optimization procedures are related to it.

An optimisation model for setting pressure controllers to minimise leakage in pipe networks,inearisation are then discussed. An alternative linearised model, based on separable programming, is presented. Results of computational studies to assess the efficacy and efficiency of the proposed model are presented and discussed.

Towards better understanding of the model concept in the context of information systems developmentw what one can do with a model. We will argue that the difference between ‘a model’ and ‘a body of information’ is based primarily on meta-information which can be used by a user, or an automated modelmanager.

GLOBAL-DETECTOR: Knowledge-based analysis and diagnosis of economical performance on dairy farms,-making. In this perspective, the extensive explanation-facilities possessed by the system are crucial. First experiences with the system seem positive. Although farmer‘s individual whishes and demands cannot be fulfilled casily with computer systems, GLOBAL-DETECTOR may be used on a large scale on account of the flexibility and user-friendliness.
