CCD Mosaicing technique for Suprime-Cam (SUbaru PRIME focus CAMera)We have developed a procedure of placing high-precision 2K×4K CCDs manufactured by SITe and MIT into a mosaic for a CCD camera, the SUbaru PRIME focus CAMera (Suprime-Cam). We used this procedure to install 8 CCDs, achieving our requirement of co-planarity of the CCD surfaces to within ±15 μm.

CFH12K: Optimising 12 MIT/LL CCID-20 CCDs for a direct imaging applicationr imaging mode. Adaptation to the CFHT prime focus environment included modifications to reduce the scattered light seen by the CFH12K. Science data taken by the camera has proven the success of CFHT’s new capability for 42×28 square arcminute imaging with high-resolution subarcsecond seeing.

The current state of the art in large CCD mosaic cameras, and a new strategy for wide field, high reution (FWHM ≈ O”.12) deep images over large fields of view (l°×l°) using an array of modest telescopes (D ∼ 1.5-1.8m) equipped with mosaics of independently-addressable orthogoral transfer CCD (OTCCD) arrays.

BUSCA: A simultaneous 4 colour camera with 4K×4K CCDsansmission fluctuations (non-photometric conditions) have almost no effect on colour index determination as colour bands are observed simultaneously. The instrument has been tested at the 1 m telescope of Bonn University’s “Hoher List” Observatory and will have its first Calar Alto run in Spring 2000.
