O2 Gradients in the Miniature Pig Retina in Normoxia and HyperoxiaThe inhalation of 100 % oxygen by healthy subjects has been shown to decrease retinal blood flow by approximately 60 % (Riva et al., 1983). Surprisingly, this decrease is accompanied by a 50 % increase in venous oxygen saturation (Hickam et al., 1966), so that the drop in O.-delivery could be even larger than 60 %.
