描述Since its launch in 1991, the Yohkoh satellite has beenreturning unprecedented observations of solar flares and the dynamicsolar corona. This book is a collection of papers presented at ameeting held in: Yoyogi, Tokyo, on the occasion of Yohkoh‘s fifthanniversary of operation. The papers constitute a summary ofobservations and results over the five years, including contributionsbased on data from Yohkoh‘s hard and soft X-ray telescopes and itsspectrometer experiments. The five years of data, coveringapproximately one-half of a solar cycle, reveal a fresh perspective onsolar science, with a new picture of solar flares and the active Sunemerging. Also, for the first time there are extensive results fromYohkoh observations of the Sun during the solar minimum period. .This wide-ranging volume will be of interest to workers in solarphysics and X-ray astronomy. It also contains material appropriate forsupplemental reading for graduate students in solar physics.

Studies of Coronal Temperaturee is observed to increase with height (Sturrock, Wheatland and Acton, 1996, Foley, Culhane and Acton, 1997). Here we present a full-sun temperature map to illustrate these and other features of the temperature structure of the corona.
