Hypertensionuld be expected to increase with recent changes in BP classifications. A reduction of blood pressure toward normal levels is important, as prolonged hypertension and diabetes mellitus are the leading causes of chronic kidney disease (CKD), and prolonged uncontrolled hypertension may lead to end-stage kidney disease.
