Experimental and Numerical Study of Long-time Evolution of Standing Waves in a Rectangular Tank these waves was investigated experimentally, and the results of the measurements were compared to the numerical solutions of the appropriate nonlinear Schrödinger equation. An agreement between theory and experiments was obtained when dissipation was taken into account in the model equations.
