A Survey of Instruments and Experiments for X-ray Astronomy,arization of the X-ray sources, time variations are being studied and spectra are being measured to resolutions of the order of ~20%. The required instruments are being flown on sounding rockets, balloons and satellites. In addition, observation of the diffuse X-ray backgrounds requires even different instruments.

Interstellar Absorption of X-rays Emitted by Supernova Remnants,ay sources and the supernova remnants on the basis of there being a small a priori probability of having an accidental coincidence within 0.1 square degrees. Cas A is almost certainly the same source as Cas XR-1 which the NRL group saw in an earlier survey [1]. During the December flight the Crab nebula was also observed for a short time interval.

Introductory Remarks,r gas and the interstellar dust. For practical purposes, interstellar gas is completely transparent over galactic distances for all wavelengths from radio waves to the far ultraviolet. In this spectral region the visibility is partially impeded only by the unevenly distributed interstellar dust.

Upper-Air Fluorescence as a Tool in X-ray Astronomy and Searches for X-rays from NP 0532 and Other ith our respective installations. These are sited at Mount Hopkins (the SAO field station at 2300 m altitude near Amado, Arizona) and at Sparsholt Firs (approx. 300 m altitude, on the Berkshire Downs, near Harwell).
