书目名称 | Nitrogen Cycling in the North Atlantic Ocean and its Watersheds | 副标题 | Report of the Intern | 编辑 | Robert W. These changes are not evenly distributedaround the world; rather, they are greatest in regions of significantindustrial and agricultural activity, as the synthesis and use ofinorganic fertilizers, cultivation of legumes, burning of fossilfuels, and the simple act of concentrating humans and animals in densepopulations all lead to the release of excess, reactive forms ofnitrogen into the environment. In part because reactive nitrogen isfrequently a limiting nutrient in many terrestrial and aquaticsystems, an excess can lead to a variety of adverse effects on bothenvironmental and human health. .The North Atlantic Ocean and its contributing watersheds constitute aregion which has seen perhaps the greatest increase inanthropogenically-derived nitrogen. In May of 1994, the InternationalScope Nitrogen Project, with funding from the Andrew MellonFoundation, the United Nations Environment Program, and the WorldMeteorological Organization, sponsored a workshop held on BlockIsland, RI, USA, entitled `Nitrogen Dynamics of the North AtlanticBasin‘. More than 50 scientists from 12 different countries convenedwi | 出版日期 | Book 1996 | 关键词 | Atlantic Ocean; Coast; Ocean; Seen; environment | 版次 | 1 | doi | https://doi.org/10.1007/978-94-009-1776-7 | isbn_softcover | 978-94-010-7293-9 | isbn_ebook | 978-94-009-1776-7 | copyright | Kluwer Academic Publishers 1996 |
