描述This book discusses new candidates for rapid-acting antidepressants, such as (R)-ketamine, (2R,6R)-hydroxynorketamine, scopolamine, mGluR2/3 antagonists and AMPA receptor agonists.  There are serious limitations to currently available antidepressants, such as delayed onset and low rates of efficacy.  The discovery that a single dose of ketamine, an NMDAR antagonist, can produce rapid antidepressant effects that are sustained has led to new research in this area.  In this volume, a variety of novel pharmaceutical treatments are examined.  This volume would be useful to both researchers and clinicians who work in the field of pharmacology, specifically CNS drug treatments..

Novel AMPA Receptor Potentiators TAK-137 and TAK-653 as Potential Rapid-Acting Antidepressants, tivity. In this chapter, I will describe our strategy for discovering AMPA-R potentiators with lower agonistic activity. I will also review the in vitro and in vivo profiles of TAK-137 and TAK-653, including their procognitive and antidepressant-like effects.

AMPA Receptor Potentiators as Potential Rapid-Acting Antidepressants, its behavioral action is blocked by AMPAR antagonists..Moreover, the removal of specific AMPAR subunits from birth results in behavioral and neurochemical characteristics relevant to depression. Taken together, these findings suggest that the stimulation of AMPARs may be a useful approach to treat

Antidepressant Effects of the Muscarinic Receptor Antagonist Scopolamine: Clinical and Preclinical follow-up investigation of ketamine’s clinical profile. This chapter is an attempt to review the clinical and preclinical antidepressant data of scopolamine with a view on illuminating the critical muscarinic receptor subtype(s) that could prove fruitful as a next-generation antimuscarinic drug targ
