Computers in Teaching and Learning: An Interpretation of Current Practices and Suggestions for Futu computer-based learning activities on this dimension. Using this framework, I examine major issues for charting the direction of computer-based learning activities for improving higher-order thinking. Central issues in the assessment of learning are explored.

New Directions for Educational Technology, are most important for future research. However, before discussing these new directions for educational technology, I would like to briefly comment on some concerns I have regarding many of the chapters in this volume.
