描述.This book provides a comprehensive update on the recent developments concerning the role of plant neurotransmitters in signaling and communication. Physiological investigations over the past few decades have demonstrated that plants employ neurotransmitters in various signaling pathways. Plant-based neurotransmitters (serotonin, melatonin, dopamine, acetylcholine, and GABA) share biochemical similarities with those in animal systems in terms of their chemical nature and biochemical pathways. Plant–environment interaction associated with abiotic stress management, growth modulation, flowering, circadian rhythm, fruit ripening, and allelopathic interactions are a major focus of research in the field, and recent advances in genomic, trascriptomic, and metabolomic approaches have resulted in the deciphering of the molecular mechanisms associated with various neurotransmitters in plants. Other current and potential areas of investigation include the putative phytohormone phytomelatonin, and receptor-mediated signaling in plant neurotransmitters. Providing an up-to-date overview of molecular crosstalk mechanisms between various neurotransmitters, the book offers essential insights to hel

Melatonin and the Transmission of Light and Auxin Signals in Plants, genesis and flowering, slowing down aging). MEL is an antioxidant that protects the plant from the effects of abiotic stressors (drought, salinity, high and low temperatures, ultraviolet radiation, heavy metals, and organic environmental pollutants). MEL increases the quantum yield of photosynthesis

Prospective Role of Melatonin in Signaling and Alleviation of Stress in Plants, thesis pathway. One of the key functions of melatonin under stress is to increase production of enzymatic antioxidants and non-enzymatic antioxidants that will shield the plants from oxidative stress in lieu of increased accumulation of ROS and RNS. At the same time, it increases photosynthetic rate

The Saga of Catecholamine and GABA Through Prospecting Stress Tolerance in Plants,s of various disciplines are engaged in simulating the perception and responses of plants in different circumstances and also to environmental input thereby testing the alternative definition of plant intelligence. The chapter reviews the action of tswo group of chemicals, catecholamines and Gamma-a
