Immunoregulation by Neuropeptides Other than Corticotropin and Melanotropin,tuitary-thyroid (HPT) axis, i.e., thyrotropin (TSH), prolactin, and the thyroid hormones triiodothyronine and thyroxine, are discussed in some detail. In addition, the effects of certain hypophysiotropins other than TRH, of the hypothalamic nonapeptides vasopressin and oxytocin, and of several extrahypothalamic neuropeptides are reviewed.

Overall, a rapidly expanding body of evidence indicates that neuropeptides and cytokines are the common signal molecules that mediate bidirectional communication between the immune and neuroendocrine systems.
