The third section is devoted to the different diagnostic possibilities. Internationally accepted algorithms are presented and put into perspective. Section 4 deals with the triad of major clinical problems in this area: urinary (incontinence, retention and voiding dysfunction as well as upper urinary tract problems), anorectal (faecal incontinence and constipation) and sexual (erectile dysfunction and ejaculatory failure) dysfunctions. Clinical Entities and Their Neuro-urological Consequences: Infectionsof possible pathogens, clinical presentation varies. Both urological and non-urological symptoms may appear. Retention is the most common urological dysfunction, followed by urinary incontinence with frequency and urgency. Treatment should be implemented as soon as reasonably possible and tailored to underlying pathology.

Neuro-urological History and Clinical Examinationatient aims and expectations. Red flag symptoms should always be assessed..Examination should aim to assess urological, neurological and general features. Relevant sensation, reflexes and motor response should be tested, including sacral reflexes. A detailed examination can help predict expected bladder dysfunction.
