An Introduction to NMR Relaxation Mechanisms, A simple picture of molecular motions and of interactions between nuclei and randomly varying fields is developed to provide a qualitative explanation of the observed phenomena. The various mechanisms for relaxation are discussed, with particular emphasis on those found most frequently in biological systems.
