Recent research has shown thatmitochondrial dysfunction underlies a broad spectrum of disease, frommaternally inherited genetic disorders to metabolism defects, aging,stroke, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson‘s,Alzheimer‘s, and Lou Gehrig‘s disease. This book brings together topresearchers whose work in examining the pathophysiologic processeswill lead to new strategies for prevention and treatment.
