The Mold/Casting Interface Phenomena,tective coating during pouring liquid metal are often due to the cause of the so-called gas porosity. The rate of the evolution of gases from the mold and cores, and their volume depends strongly on the binder used. Air present in the mold cavity may also be the cause of porosity.
