Surface Reactions and Fabrication of Bioreactive Platforms Based on Organic and Polymeric Films: FrIn this chapter, the surface reactivity of organic and polymeric films is introduced. Reactions of monolayers can be activated in the solution or in the absence of solvents. Functional groups (e.g., halogen-bearing, amino, hydroxyl, carboxyl and so on) are very useful in the modification of monolayers.

Tailored Biointerfaces via Derivatization of Polystyrene-b-Poly(Tert-Butyl Acrylate) Thin Films,d in this chapter. Derivatized PS.-b-PtBA. polymer films show good stability under a broad range of conditions. Hydrolysis of the reactive t-butyl acrylate ester groups was performed in trifluoracetic acid, hydrochloric acid solution, and in HCl gas phase.
