Shell Structure in Clusterst is found that the electronic energy is a large fraction of the total energy of a cluster and can be dominant in determining the cluster size. Experimental mass abundance spectra show discontinuities which can be attributed to shell structure in the electronic energy levels.

Multiphoton Ionization of Sodium Halide Clustersndensation are changed. “Warm” clusters show the magic numbers of neutral cuboids whereas “cold” clusters show those of charged cuboids. This is explained by electronic excitation of sodium halide admolecules desorbing from cubic cores, either before or after ionization, respectively.

SIMS Experiments on Metal Cluster IonsMass distributions of positive and negative cluster ions of copper, silver, gold, zinc and cadmium have been investigated. The clusters were produced by bombardment with Xe ions with 10keV energy and mass-analyzed with a single focusing mass spectrometer.
