Effects of shear flow on structures of lamellar phase in a nonionic surfactant/water system,and water-rich regions. Although macroscopic phase separation does not occur, SALS intensity takes a maximum at the shear rate giving .., which is consistent with the SANS results. Mechanism for the decrease in the repeat distance is discussed in relation to the change in the size of the lamellar domains.

Mechanical, structural and thermodynamic properties of confined self-assembling systems, varied. We show how the structural changes of the confined fluid are reflected in the measurable solvation force between the confining walls and in phenomena analogous to capillary condensation. We emphasize those effects of confinement which might be important for potential applications.

Influence of active sites distribution on CaCO3 formation under model biofilms at the air/water int was observed in situ by Brewster angle microscopy, where CaCO. domains appear bright. Nano-sized fluorapatite particles by controlled precipitation from heterogeneous systems,es was in the range 20–180 nm with differing aspect ratios, which was confirmed by examinations. Particles prepared by the polyol-mediated process were relatively large in size (100–300 nm equivalent diameter) but exhibited a very narrow particle size distribution compared to the FAp prepared from the micro-emulsion compositions.
