Atlas-Based Recognition of Anatomical Structures and Landmarks to Support the Virtual Three-Dimensio quantitative parameters, like angles, distances or sizes of contact areas, is important for the planning of hip operations. Based on segmented bone structures and detected landmarks algorithms for the automatic computation of orthopedic parameters were implemented. A first evaluation of the presented methods will be given at the end of the paper.

Brain Shift Correction Based on a Boundary Element Biomechanical Model with Different Material Propemogeneous regions. The size of the matrix to invert is therefore drastically reduced. Finally, our method is assessed with sequences of intraoperative MR images, showing better performances for the elastic/fluid model than for the purely elastic one.

Image-Based Modelling of Soft Tissue Deformationitted to the macro-surface structure. Micro-surface details are subsequently augmented to the modified model with 3D image warping. The proposed technique drastically reduces the polygonal count required to model the scene whilst preserving deformed small surface details to offer a high level of photorealism.

A Transurethral Prostate Resection Manipulator for Minimal Damage to Mucous Membranewas highly repeatable, to within ±0.4 degrees. The device removed material from a swine-tissue test sample at 0.7 g/min. These results showed the machine’s groundbreaking capability to shorten surgery times by one hour, from 90 to 30 minutes.
