描述This book provides clear practical guidance on the contemporary management of patients with asymmetry of facial structures. Patient evaluation and diagnosis are first fully described. Key radiological and orthodontic considerations are identified and the role of virtual surgical planning is explained. Individual chapters then focus on management principles in patients with craniosynostosis, hemifacial microsomia, condylar hyperactivity, and temporomandibular ankylosis/degenerative disease. The remainder of the book is devoted to the state of the art in treatment procedures, covering distraction osteogenesis, the use of facial implants, diverse soft tissue procedures, and jaw and other osteotomies. The text is augmented by informative clinical cases, easy-to-follow tables, photographs, and illustrations. The authors are highly experienced clinicians well recognized for their expertise in this area. The book will be ideal for all clinicians involved in the care of patients afflicted by facial asymmetry and will in particular be an indispensable tool for those who evaluate and treat the condition in day-to-day practice. .

Facial Asymmetry: Management of the Oculoauriculovertebral Spectrum (OAVS),ries at various stages of development may be indicated. Others may never require surgical intervention. The skeletal facial asymmetries commonly seen in patients with OAVS are often most successfully managed with traditional orthognathic jaw surgery near the completion of growth of the facial skeleton.

Management of Facial Asymmetry in TMJ Ankylosis and Degenerative Joint Disease,me with debilitating functional problems, the combination of which may lead to malnourishment, depression, and an overall decreased quality of life. Proper management and surgical treatment of these patients must aim to correct both the functional and esthetic sequela associated with these pathologies.

Facial Implants: Autogenous Bone Grafts and Alloplastic Implants, ing and/or alloplastic implant placement may be necessary to normalize the facial skeleton. Fortunately, the ability to perform virtual surgical planning has improved the ability to compensate for bony and/or soft tissue loss and reduced operative time through the use of cutting guides, fixation templates, and/or fabrication of custom implants.

Diagnosis and Patient Evaluation, hile one person’s asymmetry may be noticeable only to their eye, others have asymmetry which greatly affects their daily lives. Regardless of the perceived severity of one’s asymmetry, each person will form their own opinion about the relevance of their unique facial features. Functional, psychologi
